A former tambon administration organisation chairman has been arrested in Kanchanaburi late Thursday night for allegedly killing his ex-wife in Pathum Thani a day after she registered her new marriage.
Thaweewong Thongyuen, former chairman of Phan Thong Tambon Administration Organisation (TAO) in Chon Buri, was caught in a plantation of his younger brother Rakchart Thongyuen in tambon Ban Kao of Muang district.
According to police, Mr Thaweewong, 55, allegedly confessed to hiring a gunman to kill his ex-wife Weerayapa Ngamwilai, a 36-year-old official of Pathum Thani's Bueng Cham Or TAO, in her Honda Accord car in Khlong Luang district of Pathum Thani on Tuesday.
Mr Thaweewong reportedly asked his ex-wife to meet him and he was in her car when the hired gunman identified as Thanachai Yaemcharoen approached and fired at her.
The suspected mastermind said he was jealous and angry after his ex-wife dumped him to marry a kamnan in Rayong province even though he had given her a lot of money.
As he was planning the murder, Jeeraphan Mengkee, one of his aides in Phan Thong district, told him a man called Somchai Charoenying, a native of Chon Buri's Ban Bung district, could help. Acting as the middleman, Mr Somchai received 200,000 baht from Mr Thaweewong and paid 30,000 baht to the gunman.
Mr Jeeraphan and Mr Somchai were arrested in Chon Buri Friday morning.
