SCG Muang Thong United and Chiang Rai United scored convincing victories on Wednesday night to cut short arch rivals Buriram's stay at the top of the Thai League 1 table to only one day.
Muang Thong reclaimed the No.1 place with a 3-0 win over struggling Si Sa Ket, while Chiang Rai pushed Buriram further down to third spot after a 2-1 away win at Ubon UMT United.
Four-time former champions Buriram had briefly taken over to the leaders' role with a 3-0 win over Super Power Samut Prakan on Tuesday.
The Thunder Castle now trail the Kirins by three and Chiang Rai by one point.
Muang Thong scorers on Wednesday night were Mongkol Totsakrai (17th minute), Adisak Kraisorn (64th) and Tristan Do (88th).
Chiang Rai went ahead when Felipe Azevedo converted a first-half penalty, awarded after Rafael Coelho was fouled by Victor Cardozo in the box, and Vander Luiz extended the visitors' lead in the 72nd.
Nebihi Bajram pulled one back for Ubon when Piyaphol Panichakul fouled Mariano Berriex and hosts were granted a spot kick. Piyaphol was red-carded for taking a swing at Berriex.
In the other matches on Wednesday, hosts Port lost 3-0 to Bangkok Glass, Thai Honda suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Sukhothai and Nakhon Ratchasima drew Ratchaburi 1-1 at their own ground.
