An Iranian man lost both his legs and injured four others when he threw a bomb at police that hit a tree and bounced back towards him on Sukhumvit 71 Road in Bangkok. According to a television news report, an Iranian man carrying a black bag hurled the first bomb at a taxi after the driver refused to accept him as a passenger. The cab driver was among the injured. When police arrived at the scene, the Iranian then threw a second bomb at them, but it hit a tree and bounced back towards him and exploded. The injured Iranian was rushed to Kluaynamthai Hospital. The Thai Journalists Association has announced the five finalists for the Isra Amantakul Awards for outstanding photos. The five were selected from 210 entries. The winner will be decided on March 5.
A gala dinner presided over by Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanonda has been held at Government House to thank senior staff of the now-closed Flood Relief Operations Command (Froc) and VIP figures who contributed to relief efforts during last year's devastating flood.
