Ten-man SCG Muang Thong United held Buriram United to a 1-1 draw in the biggest match of this week's Thailand Premier League action yesterday.
The eagerly-anticipated match, postponed from Saturday due to rain, between the league leaders and the reigning champions pulled in more than 10,000 fans to the SCG stadium.
Ghana's Frank Acheampong put the Thunder Castle ahead early in the first half before Macedonian playmaker Mario Djurovski converted a second-half penalty to snatch a point for the Kirins.
Buriram were unlucky to not walk away with a victory after Suchao Nutnum missed a penalty and Ekawalla Herman's late header was ruled offside.
Muang Thong stayed top with 57 points from 23 matches while Buriram remained in third place with 40 points from the same number of games.
Buriram went in front after just six minutes when Acheampong headed home an Apichate Puttan free-kick.
Spurred on by the home crowd, Muang Thong piled on the pressure in search of an equaliser with both Thailand striker Teerasil Dangda, Djurovski and Dutchman Adnan Barakat missing several scoring chances.
Suchao nearly doubled the lead for Buriram in the 37th minute from a long-range free-kick but Muang Thong goalkeeper Kawin Thamasatchanan came to the rescue.
In the dying minutes of the first half, Teerasil was left unmarked in front of Buriram's goal but his header sailed over the crossbar.
Muang Thong got their equaliser after just a minute into the second half when the referee awarded them the penalty after Sivaruk Terdsungnern fouled Phichitphong Cheuichiu in the penalty area.
Djurovski converted from the spot to level the scoreline and he nearly put the Kirins ahead in the 59th minute when his shot hit the post.
The Kirins were then reduced to 10 men when Piyapol Buntao received his second yellow card for fouling Acheampong in the area.
It was again the in-form Kawin who kept Muang Thong in the game when he denied Suchao's penalty.
Buriram missed another great chance to take home all three points when Kawin missed his clearance but Herman was ruled off-side after his header ended up in the back of the net.
At 700th Anniversary stadium, TTM Chiang Mai stayed bottom when they lost Osotspa M-150 Saraburi 2-1.
Leandro Ferreira put TTM ahead in the 23rd minute but goals from Katano Hiromishi and Apipoo Sunthornpanavej secure points for Osotspa.
At Leo stadium, Bangkok Glass FC put on an impressive performance when they thrashed Chainat FC 5-3.
Five goals for the Glass Rabbits came from Hironori Saruta (13th, 56th), Ajayi (28th, 79th) and Anawin Jujee (44th). Chainat got their goals from Puwadol Suwannachart (20th), Supachai Komsil (78th og) and Narongchai Vachiraban (94th).
At Samut Songkhram stadium, a 92nd minute winner from Puwanat Sangsri won the game for Samut Songkhram FC against BB-CU FC.
At Thephatsadin stadium, Suporn Prompinit of Esan United stunned hosts BEC Tero Sasana with an injury-time winner.
