Suthep survives impeachment
Democrat Party MP for Surat Thani Suthep Thaugsuban on Tuesday survived an impeachment bid when the Senate voted 95-40, with 3 abstentions, against a petition seeking his retroactive removal as deputy prime minister.

In order to remove him, at least 88 senators, three-fifths of the 146 currently sitting senators, had to vote in support of the petition filed by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC).
The NACC found that Mr Suthep breached the constitution by sending 19 people, including Democrat MPs, to work at the Culture Ministry while serving as deputy prime minister and that this amounted to political interference in the work of state officials.
The vote was called on Tuesday after Mr Suthep and Klanarong Chanthik, an NACC member, had delivered their closing statements to the Senate.
Senate Speaker Nikom Wairatpanich said Mr Suthep and the NACC would be notified of the Senate resolution, which is final.

To bluebkk. You really see nothing wrong? Read the article again. Pause and reflect when you get to the sentence in the article which says "The NACC found that Mr Suthep breached the constitution"

Discussion 3 :christhai; How much he paying for this ??
Senators didnt get paid, im sure they just based their judgement of how Mr. Suthep worked for the people (though he overpassed the authority).. In the otherside, Mr. Suthep also have said, PTP also had the same political interference in the work of state officials.
Senators judgement are fair.
I remember before the trial of Mr. thaksin when his aide gave a lunchbox full of money to the judges.

@enlgishjohn D4: I believe you are mistaken. The commissioner in question is no lap dog for anyone, much less Thaksin. What Suthep did was wrong, but sad to say, fairly standard in politics here. And when Suthep was rebuffed, he backed off, which was smart of him and probably why he got a pass. The commissioner was doing his job impartially, whether we like his actions or not.

The only thing wrong with the system is that half the senators are appointed by people who may be said to hold similar views to Suthep.

Great! Its good to see the senators are no magic turnarounds like Tarit and give in to the wishes, pressure and rewards from far away....... There IS still some hope for Thailand!!!

Everybody did his job. NACC pointed out the legal problem. MP clarified that it was an administrative problem and it was corrected once founded. The wrong-doing had not beed done.
Senate exercised their judgement.
I see nothing wrong with the system.

How ridiculous to have the 'Anti-Corruption Commission' serving as a lapdog to the most corrupt government I have ever seen in my life.
Maybe as a result of this Mr Klanarong will be moved out of the NACC ?. Of course he won't - he will have been rewarded already for trying ...

The 'chosen' members of the Senate have chosen to keep Suthep in parliament. I am not surprised to see this obvious outcome.
