Pol Lt-Col Apichart Thongchandee, a Khlong Ton police station inspector, said the clash between two rival groups of teenagers took place on Ekamai Soi 30 about 8am.
Many cars and vehicles parked on the road were damaged but no one was injured during the fight, he said.
The teenage groups were from Rong Poon community in Bangkok's Makkasan district and had been confronting each other for a long time, he said.
"We now know who all the attackers are. After questioning all the witnesses and inspecting the firearms, we will seek arrest warrants for them," said the police inspector.
During questioning, one of the teenagers, whose name was withheld, told investigators that the two groups of teens were partying at an entertainment venue in Phet Phraram area.
While they were partying and drinking, they competed against each other in "Gangnam Style" dance. The two sides began to quarrel as the competition got more intense and one of the groups later left the venue, he said.
"Four people from the group returned at 6am and fired several shots into the sky. I tried to mediate and they agreed to leave," the teenager said.
"Three of them later returned about 8am and they sprayed bullets in all directions like in action movies. I and other people there were running for our lives."
Another teenager told police that his friends and the attackers were provoking each other by doing Gangnam Style dance moves.
"I thought the issue was settled but the other group refused to end it and they decided to fire at us while we were unprepared," he said.

So Let me get this straight, these underage kids are out all night drinking in a venue, leave, come back, shoot the place up (did not hit a single person) with 50 shots. The police know who every person is and will get arrest warrents. Where are the arrests? The police have inspected the firearms, Oh so the kids left the guns behind? No need to finger print the firearms since they know every thing allready. Its been awhile now, where are the arrests?

Amazing they can find this lot, but as for "Men in Black" or anything other high profile case they seem to stumble about or don't have enough evidence or there is a total lack of cooperation. I will leave it at that.
If kids put all that energy into studying or work OMG they might be able to actually accomplish something. It is sad to see the "break dancing" from my generation in the '80's turning into this. Another sad day in Thailand....

Does anyone remember when the Ministry of Culture suggested dance competitions as an alternative to school-based gang violence?

This may sound like a silly question but I ask it anyway. Do the parents know where their children were all night, or they just couldn't be bothered? If they were teenagers, they were still undersage to be party all night. Where's the responsibility of the parents?

So the kids were dancing and drinking till 8am? The kids are stupid to stay when they were threatened first at 6am.

Gangnam Style; refers to the lifestyle of an affluent area of Seou called Gangnam. The video is a parody / making fun of some of that and expounding on it with the "Doenjang girl", a korean expression for a women addicted to luxury and vanity and their .propensity to crimp on essentials so they can over-spend on conspicuous luxuries" Doenjang refers to one of the cheapest foods in Korea. An example is a woman that eats the cheapest noodles so she can drink a Starbucks latte, at one of the highest prices in any country in the world.

If the police can not control the streets of the capital what chance is there of solving the problems in the south by force? These are so called teenagers not fanatical insurgents and they cant control them.

Sorry, what is 'Gangnam Style' dance and why were they doing it at a party at 8am in the morning during peak rush hour? I thought most people ended their parties before 3am. Is this binge style party til you drop (or in this case shoot)?

It seems my comment previously pertaining the WILD, WILD WEST is becoming more serious & even more of a reality.
If it keeps up, the Tourists will be dropping off Thailand like it has the plague.
I suggest the powers to be do something quickly, before Thailand becomes a basket case.
We all know how all types of business can turn sour very quickly, and to rebuild confidence takes a lot longer than it does to lose it.
Leadership is needed now, before it is too late.
I for one, don't want this to happen
