Three blasts rip Tak Bai

NARATHIWAT : At least three bombs exploded in its downtown Tak Bai district of Narathiwat Saturday night, injuring many people.

Police suspected insurgents carried out the attacks in Tak Bai district ahead of the eight-year anniversary of the Tak Bai massacre on Oct 25, 2004.

The explosions took place about 9pm yesterday, though details were still coming to light at press time last night.

Police said a bomb hidden in a parked car exploded in front of Tak Bai Plaza hotel and another bomb hidden in a parked motorcycle later exploded in front of the Sodsai karaoke bar, located 100m from the hotel. The third explosion took place inside the V grocery shop in the district's downtown area.

Police said southern insurgents also sprayed bullets into a marine police camp.

The officers inside briefly exchanged gunfire with the perpetrators, killing one of them at the scene.

So, what is the count on those wounded and killed? “Police suspect insurgents” is pretty much a given and not really needed anymore, is it?

Quote Police suspected insurgents carried out the attacks in Tak Bai district ahead of the eight-year anniversary of the Tak Bai massacre on Oct 25, 2004. Really, is that what they suspect? Duhh.

In a recent article in the BP, the Army Chief dared the insurgents to show their faces in the South. Seems to me they do show their faces quite regular! I believe it is time for the Military to stop making excuses and start doing their jobs!
