From Sept 4-10, the "Beautiful Orchids Of Nakhon Pathom Expo" will be held at Chaipattana Occupational Training Park in Muang district, Nakhon Pathom.

Visitors will be able to view exhibitions on dendrobium, vanda, cattleya, oncidium and hybrid orchids, see orchid and decorative plant exhibitions and contests, buy orchid plants and learn how to grow orchids.

The objective is to promote the importance of Nakhon Pathom as a source of premium orchids, stimulate the local economy and tourism, support local orchid farmers, introduce new farming technology and promote knowledge-exchange.

Southern goods fair

Until Sept 3, the "10th Prized Goods Of The South" fair is being held at the Marketing Organisation For Farmers, or Or Tor Kor Market, opposite the Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok.

The event features the sale of high-quality goods from the four southernmost provinces of Songkhla, Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat, including whole foods, processed foods and handicrafts; the demonstration of handicraft making; and cultural performances.

Outstanding food includes salted fish, grilled chicken (kai korlae), Betong chicken rice, longkong, durian and local vegetables.

Golf fest in Lop Buri

On Sept 1, the Naraihill Lady Golf Lop Buri competition will begin at noon at Naraihill Golf Resort and Country Club in Khok Samrong district, Lop Buri.

Atthapol Wannakit, director of the TAT Lop Buri Office, said the event is organised in line with the TAT's policy to penetrate the growing markets of high-spending tourists, especially women.

Registration begins at 10am, the party and award presentation ceremony at 6pm.

Application fee per person is 1,600 baht for men and 1,500 baht for women. The price is inclusive of the green fee, the use of a caddie and golf car, a party, lucky draw, souvenirs and trophies won.

Contestants can also visit nearby attractions, including a pagoda at Wat Tham Khao Prang and Pasak Jolasid Dam.

Japan travel fair

From Sept 22-24, the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) will host the Visit Japan F.I.T. Travel Fair at Paragon Hall 3 and part of Royal Paragon Hall 1 on the 5th floor of Siam Paragon near Siam BTS Station from 10am-8pm.

The opening ceremony will start at 6pm on Sept 22, followed by a mini-concert by BNK48 Band.

Activities include the provision of travelling tips; the sale of tourism-related products from Japanese and Thai travel companies, such as travel passes, Japan Rail Pass, tours and books at over 100 booths; mini-concerts by popular singers; and Japan travel talks (by actress Joy Rinlanee Sripen on Sept 23 from 5-5.30pm, and Roam Alone travel blogger Mint Monthon on Sept 24 from 3-3.40pm).
