Security measures have been reinforced at Suvarnabhumi airport after bomb blasts and threats in Bangkok in recent weeks.

Pol Maj Gen Somchai Patcharainto, deputy commander of Provincial Police Region 1, said tightened security at Thailand's main gateway was necessary following bombings and threats in the capital.

Bangkok was hit by two separate bomb attacks this month; the first in front of the National Theatre near Sanam Luang on May 15, and the second at Phramongkutklao Hospital a week later.
