Infinix makes exponential growth bid

China-based smartphone maker Infinix Mobility has set an aggressive sales target of 300,000 unit this year, 10 times higher than last year.
Infinix has been in the Thai market for only five months, but the company is confident of achieving its target sales this year, helping it secure 1% of the market.
Chullada Sapsarasin, head of Infinix Thailand, the marketing arm of Infinix Mobility, said the company will spend 40 million baht on marketing this year, running both offline and online campaigns, including viral marketing and product reviews.
“Smartphone demand in the provincial market, especially the entry level and mid-to high-end segment, has been continuously growing, so the business opportunities for Infinix here are huge,” she said.
Infinix appointed Teletouch as its major distributor. Infinix handsets will be sold through 1,000 small retail shops nationwide, with the aim of increasing the number of outlets to 3,400 by year-end.
Mrs Chullada said more than 90% of Infinix handset owners in Thailand are in provincial areas.
Infinix’s main marketing is done offline.
“Only 300 smartphones of the 30,000 units sold last year were purchased through Lazada and Shopee,” she said.
Mrs Chullada said the main selling point of Infinix handsets are long battery life, full HD screens and high resolution cameras.
Infinix smartphones are available for 2,590 to 9,970 baht.
Infinix Mobility was founded in 2012. The company has R&D centres in Paris and Shanghai, while its mobile phones are made in China.
Infinix is available in 30 countries and have particularly sold well in the Middle East and Africa (especially Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Zambia and Kenya).
Infinix promotes four product lines: Zero, Spark, Note, Hot S, and Hot.Infinix Thailand launched its new Infinix S3 model to capitalise on growing demand for affordable smartphones in the provinces.
The Infinix S3 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, Android operating system, 32 GB of ROM and 3 GB of RAM, a 20 million pixel camera and HD screen, priced at 5,590 baht.
The company will launch four other models this year, and also plans to establish an after-sales service centre at Lak Si Plaza department store.
