This is an important and interesting ancient remain in Chaiyaphum. Phrathat Nong Sam Muen is named after a swamp in the northwestern part of the temple. It is a beautiful and perfect chedi. There is no evidence of its construction period. However, due to its architectural and fine arts characteristics, which present the combination of the arts of Lanna, Lan Chang and Ayutthaya, it is assumed to have been constructed around the 16th century in the reign of King Chai Chetthathirat of the Kingdom of Lan Chang.
